Fo Guang Singapore Youth College
Fo Guang Shan temples around the world have established colleges in accordance with Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s vision of “nurturing talent through education” and the philosophy that “Buddhism needs young people, and young people need Buddhism.” These colleges were established at various branch temples of Fo Guang Shan to realize the goal of "monasteries functioning as schools" .
Fo Guang Shan branch temples, both in Taiwan and abroad, have established “colleges” offering short-term Buddhist studies programs. These programs provide modern individuals with a peaceful environment amid their busy work lives—an opportunity not only to relieve stress from daily pressures, but also to elevate their spiritual development through Buddhist learning. For socially engaged youth who aspire to delve deeper into the Dharma, these colleges offer a rare chance to study Buddhism and experience monastic life, even within an urban setting.

The Fo Guang Singapore Youth College offers a 12-week program covering topics such as:
Introduction to Buddhist Teachings, Essential Selections from the Buddhist Canon, Monastic Etiquette, Liturgical Buddhist Chanting, Sounds of the Human World, Meditation and Mindfulness, The Art of Tea and Chan.
The program emphasizes a balanced approach to both theory and practice. Classes are conducted in a serene temple setting, free from worldly distractions, allowing students to immerse themselves in the simplicity and purity of monastic life.

Through exposure to prajna wisdom in the Buddhist curriculum and daily life education—covering walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, interacting with others, and comportment—the program aims to help students develop both compassion and wisdom. It encourages the formation of wholesome character and supports participants to discover the meaning and value of one's life.
Over the years, the Fo Guang Singapore Youth College has become a vital bridge connecting the Singapore Young Adult Division with the FGS Tsung-Lin University. Many students have gone on to become dedicated volunteers, join the Young Adult Division, and learn more about monastic education. They also actively participate in temple events such as the International Buddha’s Light Young Adult Executive Conference, Buddhism Exam, and Intervarsity Dharma Camp—continuously deepening their Dharma understanding and spiritual cultivation.
